a discordant choir. Pax cat purrs, sun-licked.

Cabbage leaf, teapot,
tin can; these offerings are blessed. Mouse,
furball, sparrow bone.

The marriage is consummated; dirt
and dust made holy by a kiss.
Cat’s curious eye closes.
